Bypassing the Bell Gigahub HH4000 - Part Deux

Following up from this original post https://fahim.ca/bell-giga-hub-double-nat-or-ppoe/ , there have been some developments

If you are in the Ubiquiti unifi ecosystem (I've been meaning to make a post or two about my own forays into this), the UCG Fiber gateway does have PPoE hardware offloading... so in theory, you can do something like this:

In a nutshell - you can get an SFP+ module that bypasses the gigahub and kind of masquerades as such.

Masquerade as the BCE Inc. Giga Hub with the WAS-110 or X-ONU-SFPP - PON dot WIKI

Personally, I have a rack mounted UDM Pro Max which doesn't have this hardware offloading (queue the sad violin music), so for the time being I'm content with the setup from my original post for now. Even with IPS/IDS enabled, I'm getting the max speeds available for my neighborhood (i.e. symmetrical 3Gbps)
